Meeting to discuss north bus terminus construction

The construction of the Rainbow Junction intermodal facility will be discussed with the community on Monday.

A meeting to discuss the construction of A Re Yeng Rainbow Junction in the north of Pretoria has been called.

Local ward councillors Hannes Coetzee, Marnette Sutherland, Yolanda Duvenage and Lenise Breytenbach said the meeting at Pretoria North City Hall, corner of Emily Hobhouse Street and Brits Road, on Monday, 23 April from 18:30 would be informative.

“We will be addressing the community’s concerns regarding the construction of the Rainbow Junction intermodal facility,” said councillor Elmarie Linde, chairperson of Tshwane council’s roads and transport committee.

The junction which was part of the city’s bus service development would be “in the triangle bordered by the new alignment of Mansfield Avenue and K14” and expected to begin “on 1 May this year and end in October 2019”.

She said the facility would accommodate taxis and long-distance buses, be used “as a park-and-ride facility” and include “a pedestrian bridge to the train station”.

“We will discuss the work that must be done in more detail during the meeting.”
