Alumni gift for Mams school
We don’t want the school children of today to suffer the same cold we have experienced during our school days.
An alumni pair of Koos Matli Primary School donated warm tracksuits to 20 learners of the school last Friday.
The gift came from Isaac Rakhotso and Bryne Malatji who both attended the school in their younger days.
They said they wanted to plough back something into their alma mater.
Rakhotsoko said the two had achieved success thanks to the primary school they attended.
They decided to buy the warm tracksuits because they were freezing during winter their own school days.
“We don’t want the school children of today to suffer the same cold we have experienced during our school days,” said Rakhotso.
Bryne Malatji further said the two were planning to help more needy children in and around Mamelodi.
They consulted school before deciding on what to donate.
The teachers identified children who desperately needed warm tracksuits against the winter cold.
The money the pair used to buy the gift came from their own pockets.
But the two said they hoped to start a non-profit organisation for this purpose.
They pleaded with local businessmen to come on board especially those who attended at Koos Matli Primary School.
The objective was to make the project much bigger than giving tracksuits to 20 children, said Rakhotso.
Rinah Semadi of the school governing body thanked the donors on behalf of the parents and staff.
She said the gift came at the right time and urged the two alumni to continue their good deeds.
Principal John Ngoepe said the school had been humbled by the two good Samaritans.
“It shows that there are good people out there who are caring about the society.”
