Calm has been restored to Olievenhoutbosch following a violent protest on Friday morning.
Residents had barricaded roads and burnt tyres to protest an eviction notice.
“The area is calm, but police will continue to monitor,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant- Colonel Kay Makhubele.

He said six people were arrested for public violence after several vehicles were damaged during the protest.
Rubber bullets were fired to disperse the crowd but no injuries were reported.
The Tshwane metro blamed Gauteng human settlements MEC Uhuru Moila for the protest.
Tshwane MMC for human settlements Mandla Nkomo said Moila’s department was granted order to evict the illegal occupants of RDP houses in Olievenhoutbosch Extension 27, and this had led to the protest.

“The order was granted after more than 800 incomplete units were unlawfully invaded last year,” Nkomo said.
The metro said the Pretoria High Court had given the provincial department an interim eviction order in May.
On Monday the community’s bid to suspend the order was rejected by the court, allowing the provincial department to proceed with evictions.
