NEWSFLASH: Armed robbery at Centurion Mall

“No shots were fired though a customer suffered minor injuries.”

Four suspects robbed customers and the Incredible Connection store in the Centurion Mall on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said the four suspects pretended to be customers.

“Once inside [the store], they produced firearms and demanded everybody lie on the ground,” said Miller.

The suspects then proceeded to steal an unknown number of items.

“While trying to flee the scene, a security guard became aware of what was happening and tried to close the exit lane. He held the boom gate down, but one of the suspects pointed his firearm at the guard who then opened the gate,” said Miller.

The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

No further information is available at this stage.

Meanwhile, the Centurion Mall has released the below statement:

“The Centurion Mall can confirm an armed robbery on its premises where a technology store was robbed. Armed suspects managed to flee the store. No shots were fired though a customer suffered minor injuries. SAPS are onsite and we are fully cooperating with the investigations. The centre’s top priority is the safety of our shoppers, retailers and employees.”

The Incredible Connection could not be reached for comment.
