VIDEO: Centurion school donates to animal shelters

“This initiative teaches children from young to care for and respect animals."

Deputy headmaster Anton Lubbe said pet food, food bowls, blankets, shampoos, balls, pet beds were donated.

“This initiative teaches children from young to care for and respect animals. After today, the kids will know what to do and who to call when they come across an abandoned animal in the streets,” said the school .

He said the school was more than happy to donate to animal shelters, and this was something they would do more regularly in the future

Tiley said if people wanted to help charities, they should visit a local SPCA or animal shelter or volunteer at an organisation like CatPals, which fed, sterilised and cared for street cats.

SPCA branch manager Pam Pretorius said it was important for owners to sterilise their animals.

“We have incidents were dog/cat owners move to another town and leave their dogs behind. That creates a problem because those animals roam around making more puppies.”

CatPals is a registered non-profit organisation, operating in Pretoria and Centurion.
