Several shots were fired during an attempted hijacking at the Centurion Lifestyle Centre on Friday afternoon.
The centre confirmed on Friday evening that the attempted hijacking happened inside their premises just before 17:00.
“Shots were fired during the incident, although no one was injured. The armed suspects managed to flee the scene,” the Centurion Lifestyle Centre said in a statement.
“We are cooperating with the police, who are on site. The safety and security of our customers, tenants and employees are of the utmost importance to us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the security at the mall and the SAPS for their quick response.”

Centurion resident Hannes du Buisson said a woman may have been followed from the ATM.
“It seems like two men in a Ford Fiesta was trying to rob a woman driving a Porsche. They eventually took off with her handbag and cellphone,” he said.
Du Buisson said a security vehicle arrived and shots were fired at the hijackers, but they managed to flee the scene.
The police had yet to comment at time of print.
