A robbery case has been opened at the Brooklyn police station after a Korean national was robbed of R40 000.
The robbery took place on Friday 5 October at the Menlyn Maine shopping centre, according to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Michael Nel.
The man had gone to the shopping centre to deposit money at the bank. As he got out of his vehicle, a white VW GTI Golf 7 pulled up behind him and one of the suspects jumped out of the vehicle.

The robber pointed a firearm in the man’s face and demanded his bag.
A struggle between the man and his attacker ensued, but the suspect managed to take hold of the bag, which had R40 000 in cash, his passport, driver’s license, a flash drive with his company information.
The robbers fled the scene by forcibly opening a boom gate by hand and speeding on via Aramist Road.
Nel said one suspect was later apprehended in possession of the victim’s cell phone.
“A case of common robbery and possession of stolen property is being investigated and the suspect would appear in court during the course of the week.”
In a statement, the Central Square Co-Ownership said the safety of visitors to Menlyn Maine remained a top priority.

“Mall management has also been informed that the victim of the robbery is in good health.”
