Power outage as transformer explodes in the east

There was no estimated time of when electricity would be restored.

Residents in the east of Pretoria were left without electricity after a transformer exploded on Monday evening.

DA ward councillor Daryl Johnston said the transformer at the substation on the corner of Jamestown and Alouette streets exploded around 19:10.

He said the whole of Elarduspark was affected.

“I have notified the relevant departments of the outage,” he said.

Johnston said municipal officers were on their way to the scene.

He said there was no estimated time of when the power would be restored.
