“My husband has always had a passion for what he did,” said his wife, Elaine.

Before his death, Justus worked as a sector manager at the police station.

“Warrant officer Bruwer left the Wonderboompoort police station as a young and lively police officer,” said Zwane.

“And that’s what we will remember about him forever.”

When Rekord asked Elaine how she would describe her husband, she answered “love.”

“He cared a lot for the community and his family,” she said

“It’s always one characteristic that has always shone through him – his love and caring for others.”

Elaine and Justus got married on 30 June 2016 and have worked together regularly, especially on community projects.

Zwane says Justus was a mentor and a father figure to many young police officers who recently joined the police because he was their field education officer.

A memorial service for Justus will be held at the NG church Moot Valley on Thursday at 11:00.
