Madiba colouring book launched at east school

The official launch of the book was attended by Ndileka Mandela, the first grandchild of the late Nelson Mandela.

Learners at Boikgantsho Primary School in Mamelodi East were the first proud recipients of Madiba colouring books launched on Wednesday.

A total of 200 copies were handed over to the grade 2 and 3 learners.

The launch was attended by Ndileka Mandela, the first grandchild of the late Nelson Mandela.

“This is the first and one of its kind colouring book that learners will be able to colour in and learn about their icon Nelson Mandela,” said Ndileka.

“The book will teach the learners about the history of Mandela. The learners must be taught about the history of their country at an early age.”

She said about of three million copies of the book would be handed to grade 2 and 3 learners across the country.

Principal of the school Vusi Khumalo said it was a golden opportunity for the learners and a bonus to the school to receive the book first.

“The learners will learn more about Madiba and this will assist them in their studies. These books will encourage the culture of reading at an early age.

“It is a child-friendly book, easy to read and easy to understand. The learners will definitely enjoy the book,” Khumalo said.

Grade 3 learner Kgaugelo Kganyago (9) said she was happy to be among the first to receive the book and she will colour it in and learn more about the icon Nelson Mandela.
