A burst pipe in the east of Pretoria has residents angry at litres of water going to waste on Tuesday morning in Rubenstein Drive.
“The pipe burst open on Monday night and we reported it. But this morning (Tuesday), the water was still bursting through the tar road right across from De Jongh optometry,” said Moreleta Park resident Bets Diederiks.
Ward councillor Darryl Johnston confirmed to Rekord that the leak had been reported to the city and that residents should continue to shed light on the issue until it was resolved.
“It’s really difficult to resolve a municipal issue if people don’t report it. In order for me to follow up, I require a reference number, which can only be supplied if the issue had already been reported,” Johnston said.
Johnston said he was due to visit the regional office on Tuesday morning to raise the issue again.
Johnston urged residents to report all water leaks and burst pipes to the city on 012-358-9999 or 080-1111-556.
