Ward councillor Phillip Nel confirmed to Rekord that the problem seems to come from the Wingate substation, and that a technical team is currently on site.

“The problem seems to come from afar, the electricity is distributed to the Wingate substation, but I know that the team is busy doing evaluations and the power should be restored shortly.”

Residents are urged to report any power outages, water leaks and burst pipes to 012-358-9999 or call the toll-free number on 080-111-1556.
