A concerned resident complained about a burst water pipe in Silverton in the early hours of Thursday morning.
“We think the water meter may have been stolen on Brummer Street during the night, but now litres of water are being wasted and spilling into the road,” said Silverton resident Dr Pretorius.
Ward councillor Freddie Pienaar told Rekord that he had not been made aware of the burst pipe, but was on his way to a meeting where he planned to inform the city.
“Water wastage is unnecessary. As soon as I supply the city with the reference number, they’ll be on site to fix the problem,” he said.
Pienaar urged residents to remember to report water leaks and burst pipes as soon as possible to the city on 012-358-9999 or 080-1111-556.
