Power out in the north

It was estimated repairs would be concluded by 20:00.

Residents and businesses around Karenpark and Amandasig are without power supply, following attempted cable theft at Wonderpark substation on Thursday.

“Our technicians are currently on site investigating the extent of the damage and make the necessary repairs,” said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.

It was estimated that repairs would be concluded by 20:00, he said.

“Residents are once again urged to report suspicious/destructive activities around Pretoria’s infrastructure to the Tshwane Metro Police department,” he said.

“This despicable and selfish act does not only cause power supply interruptions, but also pose a danger to community members because of the live wires that are left hanging.”

He said the metro apologised for any inconvenience that arose as a result of this outage.

“Consumers are advised to treat all electrical points as live,” he said.

Affected residents were urged to report power failures.
