A report about a police officer, who was mugged in the Pretoria CBD, has set social media afire.
The policeman allegedly had his cellphone stolen at the corner of Thabo Sehume and Helen Joseph streets.
Anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee alleged in a Tweet the policeman was a servant at the Pretoria courts.

Some Twitter users applauded the thieves, as they said the policeman got to “suffer what they had been suffering every day as citizens”.
Twitter user Mohlala Tebogo tweeted: “Good. At least he got to feel what ordinary citizens go through every day in Pretoria CBD.”

Sindoe Za tweeted: “I feel sorry for the officer. On the other hand, maybe now this crime will get the attention it deserves. SAPS always think that it’s a joke when we tell them we have been mugged in broad daylight.”
Pretoria Central police spokesperson Captain Augustina Selepe said they were unaware of the mugging.
“Nothing was reported to us,” she said.
