Two men were arrested after they were allegedly found in the possession of a hijacked bakkie in Mabopane on Tuesday.
The arrest happened after Mabopane police received information about a hijacked vehicle doing rounds in unit A, Mabopane.
“While on the way to unit A, a tip-off was given that the said hijacked bakkie was offloading goods into another vehicle,” spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana said.
She said two officers – Warrant Officer Sengoaneng and Sergeant Malope – spotted the white open bakkie at Mabopane dumping site.
“The bakkie was searched and stolen property was recovered. Two suspects were arrested and taken to the Mabopane police station,” Motlana said.
Mabopane station commander Colonel Pieterse thanked members for their dedication and commitment.
Cases of carjacking and possession of suspected stolen property were opened.
