Anti-bullying campaign kicks off at west school

Grade 6 learners performed a drama to elaborate on the problems victims of bullying are faced with and how to overcome bullying.

The Pretoria West Social Crime held a ‘Bullying must fall’ awareness campaign at the Bagale Primary School in Lotus Gardens recently.

The aim of the campaign was to make learners aware of the impact of bullying, said police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma.

“We focused more on grades R to 3 as it is very important to groom the learners at this age before going astray,” she said.

“We made the learners aware of the impact bullying has on others and how their behaviour changes towards life in the future.”

Interested parties from the Action Breaks Silence organisation took part together with Malebo Crew and other non-government organisations from Sithuthukisa Bonke.

Grade 6 learners performed a drama to elaborate on the problems victims of bullying are faced with and how to overcome bullying.

“After the drama, motivational words of wisdom were shared by the NGOs and social workers present, while senior pupils also presented on issues of love and emotional abuse,” she said.
