The Dube police in Winterveldt together with the Dube youth crime prevention desk joined hands to stop bullying in schools.
The two organisations visited Holy Trinity Secondary School in Winterveldt on Monday to address the issue of bullying in schools.
Learners were also taught about types of bullying.

The youth desk performed a play about the repercussions of bullying and how it can be reported.
“The main aim of the drama was to show how bullying gets out of hand and our mission as an organisation is to combat crime in schools around Winterveldt,” said Obed Khoza, youth desk chairperson.
Sergeant Thembi Nowathe of the Dube police station and health promoter from Winterveldt, Angy Maleswena led discussions on bullying.
Nowathe referred to a video that went viral on social media, showing a group of high school learners aged between 14 and 16 years old assaulting a 28-year-old Thoriso Themane in Flora Park, Polokwane.
“Bullying is a serious crime and we take it seriously. I ask every learner to come forward and report it if they are victims of it,” said Nowathe.
Nowathe said she and her team were committed to getting rid of bullying in schools.

“We work with various schools in Winterveldt. I will dedicate my every Monday to visit a school together with the team I work with to educate these learners about bullying and the consequences of it,” she said.
“I know learners who were the most problematic in schools, but through these kind of talks they managed to change their lives and are now in matric doing well.”
