Police from the Tshwane Central Cluster made 85 arrests over the last 48 hours during their weekend anti-crime operation.

“Arrests were made for various crimes such as driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, illegal gambling, dealing in dagga and common robbery,” she said.

Weilbach warned motorists about supporting beggars.

“We recommend motorists do not support beggars and street sellers at intersections. Not only are their activities illegal and dangerous to themselves and motorists, but it also creates opportunities for criminals to commit crimes.”

She said all those that were arrested will appear in the Hatfield Community and Pretoria Magistrate’s Court respectively on Monday.
