The Pretoria Moot police have urged anyone with information on a fatal hit-and-run accident in Hertzog Street on Saturday.
Spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said the police had found “no eyewitnesses who could account for what happened” during the accident that happened around 19:23.
“That is why we are asking for the help of the community to track down the motorist [involved].”
Breedt said an inquest docket was opened at the police station for further investigation.
He said the victim’s identity was yet to be established.
“The police will conduct investigations to establish the exact cause of death and his identity,” he said.
The police could not immediately confirm the clothing of the victim.
“According to the information we received, he was wearing dark clothing,” Breedt said.
Moot CPF chairperson Elsabe van Staden previously said the victim was dragged under the vehicle for about 50m before becoming loose as the motorist fled the scene.
