Three suspected house robbers were arrested in Saxby Avenue on Tuesday afternoon following a shootout with police.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Cornelius Masalesa said an off-duty police officer had spotted the suspects breaking into a house in Rooihuiskraal.
And when they fled the scene in a grey Renault, “the officer gave chase”.
“During the chase the men proceeded to fire at police who in turn shot back at them. No injuries were sustained and the three men were successfully apprehended.”
Masalesa said suspected stolen items were also found in the getaway vehicle.
The three are expected in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Friday on charges of “house robbery”.
