Silverton police are searching for a group of men in connection with a murder and robbery that happened in Nellmapius on Tuesday evening.
Three men allegedly ambushed two women, aged 32 and 29, at a residence on the corner of Alwyn and Real Rovers streets.
A woman was killed while another was injured during the incident, said police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato.
“The women were sitting outside a shack when the three armed men approached them,” he said.
“One of the women tried to run away when she was shot in the upper body. She was certified dead on the scene.”
Sepato said the men then forced the other woman into the shack and demanded cash.
“The [second] woman was also shot in the leg and a substantial amount of money was taken from her.”
He said the group fled on foot.
A case of murder and robbery is being investigated.
Police requested anyone with information to contact the Silverton station.
