The police have warned citizens to understand the Constitutional Court ruling allowing personal use of marijuana to prevent falling foul of the laws.

Police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller was talking to Rekord after a drug lab was discovered in Doringkloof near the Rietvlei nature reserve in the Lyttelton precinct.

“Our crime intelligence, K9 units and Lyttelton police uncovered the hidden drug lab following a tip-off ,” Miller said adding the property was used to cultivate hallucinogenic mushrooms and dagga.

“Members also recovered a large amount of edible products manufactured from dagga that were already packaged and marked.

Police confiscated all narcotic paraphernalia including these products.

“We would like to once again remind the community that charges relating to dealing and distribution of marijuana are still in place and will be enforced,” Miller said.

Lyttelton station commander Brigadier Martha Mokobori praised all the members involved for their dedication and hard work in uncovering the lab.
