Brooklyn police are looking for a grey or silver Toyota Corolla that was involved in at least two common robbery cases.
Police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach said on Tuesday, 26 March at about 19:00, a 51-year-old man ordered a taxi on a mobile cellphone app in Hazelwood.
“He left the building to check if the taxi had arrived in Pinaster Street when an unknown man came from behind and grabbed his cellphone.”
Weilbach said the suspect then got into a grey or silver Toyota Corolla waiting nearby and fled the scene.
“Last Friday an 18-year-old man was also robbed of his cellphone in Menlo Park at about 23:35.”
She said the man was talking on his cellphone in Lynnwood Road when an unknown man grabbed it and fled in a grey or silver Toyota Corolla.
“Both victims said the incidents occurred so quickly they were unable to note the registration number,” said Weilbach.

“It is suspected that the same vehicle is being used in similar robberies in surrounding areas.”
She said there was a high number of cases being investigated where pedestrians were robbed of cellphones.
“Street robberies remain opportunistic crimes that can be reduced through a combined effort of the community and the SAPS,” said Weilbach.
“Cellphone users are requested to lessen the risk of being a victim of these crimes by minimizing the use of cellphones in public.”
