Nine arrested in Tshwane flying squad operation

Three stolen vehicles were also recovered.

Nine people were arrested and two unlicensed firearms with ammunition recovered in Tshwane flying squad successes at the weekend.

Spokesperson Buhle Rahatji said three stolen vehicles were also recovered.

She said four of the arrests were made in connection with bribery.

“While conducting stop and search patrols at the weekend, officers arrested four suspects for bribery of R2 750 to release a person with an unlicensed and live ammunition in Soshanguve,” Rahatji said.

Two spaza shop owners were arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition in the same area.

“Furthermore, three suspects were arrested for possession of dagga with a street value of R1 500 in Akasia,” she said.

The three recovered vehicles – a silver BMW X5, an orange Ford ranger and a white Hyundai H100 bakkie – had been reported stolen at various police stations last month.

“All suspects aged between 23 and 55 will appear in the nearest magistrate’s court soon.”
