Ga-Rankuwa police have warned men to be “extra vigilant around women hanging out at taverns”.
The warning comes after two men were reportedly drugged and robbed of their belongings by two women they met at a tavern.
“It remains unclear how it happened, but both men woke up in the morning and found their belongings missing,” said police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi.
A VW Polo, furniture, electrical appliances (including a plasma TV and sound system), cellphones as well an undisclosed amount of money were stolen.
The men were having drinks at a tavern in Hebron over the weekend when the women joined them.
Nkoadi said they later on went to Ga-Rankuwa Zone 24 where the alleged robbery took place.
“Preliminary investigation suggests the victims’ drinks might have been spiked as both dozed off before they were robbed,” he said.
The stolen vehicle was recovered the following day.
