More than 30 people were arrested for various crimes in a police operation in Soshanguve on Wednesday.
“About 37 suspects were nabbed through stop-and-searches, tracking and other initiatives,” said spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka.
Suspects were arrested on charges including theft, kidnapping and assault, theft, possession of a firearm, malicious damage to property and possession of drugs.
“Other charges include contravention of a protection order, robbery with a weapon other than a firearm, assault and domestic violence,” Maluleka said.
In addition to the above, others were charged with the pointing of a firearm, driving a vehicle without a license and drunken driving.

“The Rietgat SAPS continues to take the people of Soshanguve on a safer journey by increasing the number of suspects behind bars.”
He added police were ensuring firearms, drugs and stolen property did not “crisscross the precinct willy-nilly”.
All arrested suspects are expected to appear at the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court.
