Four Silverton flying squad constables appeared in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Thursday in connection with the kidnapping of 10 Bangladeshi nationals.
Constables Mbengeni Martin Rambau, Nare Isrom Kgomo, Eric Jackson Motau and Maano Maluselo are accused in the kidnapping of the nationals who were allegedly smuggled into South Africa through Zimbabwe a week ago.
It is alleged the group was kidnapped on the N1 by the four in two marked police vehicles.

Four days later, on 31 March, two victims were released after their families paid a ransom.
Naidoo said the officers were tracked by the SAPS national crime intelligence along with the investigating officers.
On Wednesday morning three of the officers were arrested at the Silverton 10 111 centre where they worked and the other accused handed himself in to Villieria police that night.

The four face charges of kidnapping and human trafficking.
The case was remanded to 9 April for a formal bail application.
The accused remain in police custody.
