North business robbery suspects traced, arrested

One unlicensed firearm, a metro police uniform and a black Polo Vivo were recovered.

Four men involved in a business armed robbery in Brits were traced and arrested in Mabopane on Wednesday.

Mabopane police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana said the suspects robbed Brits Chopies Sassa pay point.

The arrest was made by the Mabopane crime prevention unit and Brits cluster trio team in Mabopane unit A, said Motlana.

“Members got a tip-off that suspects were at unit A and upon arrival, they found one suspect inside a black VW Polo Vivo,” she said.

“The vehicle was found to be stolen as it circulated on social media for a number of weeks.”

Motlana said the members worked jointly and through their hard work and dedication, they managed to trace three other suspects around the Winterveldt area.

“The three were arrested and detained at Mabopane police station. One unlicensed firearm, a metro police uniform and a black Polo Vivo were recovered,” she said.

Motlana said the suspects will be profiled to check if they were not involved in any other crimes in Mabopane.
