If all goes well, a security guard from the Moot could possibly be taken off sedation soon.
The security guard from Kilnerpark Security, Lourens Brummer (29) was critically injured during a shootout on Thursday.
“Lourens is stable, but still very critical,” Kilnerpark Security spokesperson, Ancelize van der Kooi said on Saturday.
She said Brummer’s pelvis was broken and he was on dialysis.
“His kidneys started suffering because of the tremendous amount of blood he lost,” she said.

“We are still praying that he makes a full recovery.”
Brummer was found by medics with a single gunshot wound to his pelvis in Stanza Bopape Street in Hatfield on Thursday morning.
He was shot when he responded to an armed robbery at a store in Kilnerpark, according to Van der Kooi.
Van der Kooi said two of their vehicles chased a white Toyota Quantum used by the robbers.

Brummer was in one of the vehicles.
“The suspects were armed and shot at one of our vehicles.”
She said the first shootout happened at the corner of Soutpansberg and Gordon roads.
Van der Kooi said one vehicle came to a stop when its right tyre was shot.

The other vehicle continued to chase the suspects until Stanza Bopape Street, where Brummer was shot.
Brummer was airlifted by a Netcare helicopter ambulance to a specialised trauma facility where he underwent an emergency operation and then admitted into the ICU.
On Thursday evening he was rushed for another operation when his wound started bleeding again.
Van der Kooi said according to the police, no one had yet been arrested.
