Eleven people were arrested during two separate operations in the Tswane west district this past weekend.
The first seven arrests were made during an operation in Olievenhoutbosch on Friday morning, said police spokesperson Constable Simon Chokoe.
He said the operation was conducted by the police and other law enforcements.
“Police identified one of the high schools in Olivenhoutbosch for a search as part of a safer school programme,” he said.

“Upon searching the school, police received a tip-off from learners about drugs.”
Chokoe said the police followed up on the information given in Olievenhoutbosch extension 13.
“Upon searching the house, live ammunition were seized from the tuck shop and a man, in his thirties, was immediately arrested for being in the possession of live ammunition,” he said.
He said more information led the police to extension 36, where another man was arrested for being in the possession of live ammunition.

“Further investigation led the police to an illegal tavern, which was closed and five suspects were found with drugs,” he said.
“They were immediately arrested.”
In a separate incident, three people were arrested during another operation in Atteridgeville.
“The police received information about suspects in possession of suspected stolen property,” he said.

Chokoe said during the operation on Friday night, a vehicle matching their description was spotted in Atteridgeville extension 6.
“Upon searching the vehicle, a bag containing different cigarettes and a lighter was found inside the vehicle,” he said.
“The suspect was immediately arrested for being in the possession of suspected stolen property.”
He said the police continued with their investigation, which included a stop and search.

“A silver Toyota Tazz, which was suspected to be used in crimes, was spotted driving around the streets in Atteridgeville,” he said.
“The vehicle was stopped and upon searching, police found two firearms with live ammunition.”
Chokoe said the man was immediately arrested for being in the possession of unlicensed firearms and live ammunition.
He said further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect in possession of suspected stolen goods in extension 7.
“The police searched his house, the suspected stolen items were seized and the man was arrested,” he said.
All suspects will appear in the various magistrate’s courts soon.
