The Lyttelton police have warned so-called “novelty” stores in Centurion to ensure they are properly licensed to sell liquor.
Police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said the police had recently seized liquor from various arts and crafts stores in the area.
“Our liquor officer inspected various shopping centres and discovered that they sold liquor without a valid trading licence,” said Miller.

All liquor was confiscated and a fine issued, said Miller.
“We would like to remind vendors that the sale of any alcoholic beverages without a valid trading licence is a criminal offence,” he said.
Miller said the Lyttelton police also celebrated the arrest of four men near the taxi rank in the Centurion CBD on Tuesday morning for possession of drugs.
The four were expected in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court within 48 hours.
