UPDATE: Saxby Avenue property: court rules in favour of Tshwane metro

The order prevents any waste recycling business from being conducted on the property.

The Pretoria high court has ordered the owners of a property in Saxby Avenue in Centurion to prevent the illegal dumping of waste there.

This after the court on Tuesday ruled in favour of the Tshwane metro.

According to the court order, the owners of the property must prevent any waste recycling business from being conducted on the property.

Any illegal or unlawful activity on the property must also be prevented.

The owners are also compelled to pay for a fence which the metro must put up around the property.

The Eldoraigne property gained notoriety earlier this year after the owner put up advertisements for a “free-for-all” housing scheme.

The Tshwane metro compelled the owner to remove the adverts by obtaining a Pretoria high court order in March.

Earlier this year, the disgruntled owner of the property put up signs which supplied the telephone number of the local ward councillor as a “contact” for free housing.

The metro later labelled the so-called “housing scheme” as illegal, saying it had not been approved by the city council.

The metro had previously issued a contravention notice after it was discovered the owners were building on the property without approved plans.
