Region six has been hit by a massive outage due to a power trip at the Njala power station.
Utilities MMC Abel Tau said the trip resulted in an outage in most suburbs in the east.
A switch in the Njala substation has burnt, the Tshwane metro said.
According to metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo Garsfontein, Moreleta Park, Rietfontein, Queenswood, Rooiwal, Lyttelton and others were affected.
“I cannot give you the exact number of areas affected, it is a huge part of the east.”
He said information on all the affected areas and the cause of the trip would be communicated later.
He apologised for the inconvenience to residents.
