VIDEO: North ‘Spaceboy’s’ dream ends in tragedy after bike crash

People using cars are not sensitive to bikers said Mahlangu.

Tshwane Legend Bikers club (TLB) has expressed sadness over the death of Mandla Masango (30), popularly known as “Spaceboy”.

In 2014, Soshanguve-born Masango became one of the people who won a seat sponsored by the AXE Apollo Space Academy on an hour-long sub-orbital trip.

However, his trip to space was not meant to be after he died on Saturday.

The president of the club Somkhaliphi Mahlangu said that Masango collided with a vehicle on WF Nkomo Street, in Pretoria West.

He said the tragedy has affected members “badly, because they were close and attached to ‘Spaceboy’”.

“He was a very ambitious young person who enjoyed what he was doing, especially riding and so forth,” said Mahlangu.

“We are deprived of an opportunity of a lifetime. He was going to be our pride as the TLB club.”

Mahlangu urged motorists to be more sensitive to bikers. “People that are using cars are not sensitive to bikers.”

The executive committee of the club has planned a visit to the family tomorrow at 19:00.
