Moot residents left in the dark

Some residents have been without power since Tuesday.

Areas in the Moot have been left without power, some since Tuesday, following two separate incidents.

Local ward councillor Frans Smith said the first power outage, affecting most of Villieria, occurred on Tuesday when contractors, who installed fibre, damaged an electricity cable.

A second power outage, affecting most of Môregloed, hit Moot residents on Wednesday morning, Smith said.

“The second power outage is due to cable theft,” he said.

Smith said the Tshwane metro was aware of the power outage, adding that power has not yet been restored.

“Municipal workers are on the two scenes,” he said.

“We understand the residents’ frustration, but we ask that residents bear with us during this time. We are working hard to get the power restored.”
