Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born on 18 July 1918 in Eastern Cape, he was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and political leader. Mandela was the first black president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
His birthday was declared Mandela Day, a day of service, to honour the late icon by spending 67 minutes making the world a better place. No matter how small your action, Mandela day is about changing the world for the better, just as Nelson Mandela did every day.

Nelson Mandela was the one who inspired the idea of the Mandela day on his 90th birthday celebration at London Hyde Park in 2008 he said, “It is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands now.”
“Nelson Mandela has been making an imprint on the world for 67 years, beginning in 1942 when he started his campaign for the human rights of every South African. His life has been an inspiration to the world,” the Nelson Mandela Foundation said.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”– Nelson Mandela.
Here are some things you can do on Mandela Day:
– Go to the community feed the homeless.
– Donate food and clothes to any near homes or care centres or you can go and spend some time helping at the home or at the care centre.
– Go clean your community.
– If you are a blood donor, you can go to the nearest South African Blood Service (SANBS) and save some lives on Mandela Day.

– If you have books, novels that you are done reading, you can donate to the nearest library or school.
