VIDEO: North children’s home gifted on #MandelaDay
The brand new books handed over to the Louis Botha home were valued at R180 000.
The Louis Botha Children’s home in the Moot kick-started its #MandelaDay commemoration on a high note when it was gifted books valued at a whopping R180 000 on Thursday.
“We’re so grateful to Kolonnade Retail Park and Exclusive Books for this wonderful donation,” the home’s Ancha Smuts said.
She said the brand new books would be added to their “very old” library.

“We are going to use these books to upgrade our library.”
Smuts said volunteers would be coming to the home to unpack the books which will make a “very big difference,” she added.
She further extended her gratitude to Henk Viljoen – regional sales manager at NB publishers – for organising the books.
Viljoen said he started the project as a tribute to his son Hanco who passed away ten years ago.
“I wanted to do this as a last tribute in his memory,” Viljoen said.
Kolonnade Retail Park spokesperson Ina Kotze said the books would go a long way to assisting the home “joosh” its library up.

“We are also happy to have been with De Wet Hugo all the way from Saudi Arabia who is both a teacher and author of some of the books we handed over,” Kotze added.
“We are truly blessed to be part of a community that cares.”
