Operations in Pretoria net 450
The operation "Okae Molao" aims to eradicate violent crime from the capital.
The police made 450 arrests during operation ‘Okae Molao’ across Pretoria over the weekend in a joint effort with the departments of home affairs and community safety.
The operation targeted violent crimes in the capital, according to police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.
“One of the goals was to remove illegal firearms and dangerous weapons within the reach of the criminals,” he said.
– In Garsfontein, police arrested a man found in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle following a high-speed chase. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier this month in Bronkhorstspruit.

In another success, the police have arrested two following a business robbery and shootout that left a security guard and a suspect wounded in Centurion Mall.
“The guard responded to a robbery at the mall where two armed suspects fired shots at him. The guard retaliated and fired shots, injuring one of the suspects,” he said.
“Two suspects were arrested and two 9mm firearms confiscated for further police investigation.”
Moloto said other suspects were arrested for various offences which included possession of drugs, house-breaking and theft, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, contravention of a protection order, malicious damage to property, dealing in liquor without a licence and traffic offences.
He said some of the suspects were released after paying fines while others would appear in the different magistrate’s courts in Tshwane.
