Tshwane metro workers’ strike cripples service delivery
The city encouraged residents to remain patient during this period.
Service delivery in Pretoria remained disrupted following protest action by metro workers affiliated to the South African municipal workers’ union (Samwu).
Tshwane metro advised residents to anticipate delays in the turn-around time to calls logged on service delivery-related matters through the city’s customer care centres.
“The city apologises for any inconvenience that might arise as a result of this unanticipated disruption which also saw several operational routes in the Tshwane central business district blockaded by municipal buses,” the metro said.
Due to current #TshwaneInterruption the city’s
call centres and customer care offices are not fully operational. Residents are
requested to report service delivery interruptions via email. 1/4— City of Tshwane (@CityTshwane) July 29, 2019
Residents were encouraged to remain patient during this period.
Samwu members have been out on the streets demanding a salary increase of 18 percent.
