UPDATE: Six-year-old, mother recovering after Centurion drive-through smash
The boy and his mother were involved in an accident which saw their car crashing into the premises of a fast food outlet.
A six-year-old boy and his mother are undergoing physical therapy rehabilitation after suffering severe injuries in an accident in Centurion earlier this month.
This when the car they were travelling in smashed into a fast-food drive-through in Wierdapark.
A family member, who preferred not to be named, said the two were recovering well despite their injuries.
“We are very grateful that both the boy and his mother are doing better,” the family member said.

“They have also received overwhelming support from the community for which we are very thankful.”
The boy and his mother were involved in an accident, which saw their car crashing into the premises of a fast food outlet on the corner of Willem Botha and Ruimte Road on 13 July.
At the time, Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said the vehicle had ended up against a pillar in the outlet’s drive-through.
“The child was underneath the car when paramedics arrived at the scene, so they had to use specialised equipment to lift the car and pull him out,” he said.
“He was stabilised on the scene with advanced life support care and a medical helicopter was called in to airlift him to hospital.”
The mother was also taken to a Pretoria hospital after required advanced life support intervention was used to stabilise her.
Meanwhile, ward councillor Cindy Billson said residents were fed up with the high number of accidents on Ruimte Road between Old Johannesburg Road and Saxby Avenue.
“Yet another accident was reported to me on Monday evening in which a car overturned,” said Billson.

“I have been trying to get safety measures put in place in this area for the past three years.”
Measures included speed cameras as well as barriers.
“There is a barrier on the side of the road which was put up recently,” said Billson.
“However, accidents continue and more needs to be done.”
