UPDATE: No arrests in Centurion “taxi boss” murder case
“Police are still following up on all leads and the matter remains under investigation.”
Police are still searching for those responsible for last week’s possible hit on a “taxi boss” who was shot and killed at a traffic light in Centurion.
On Thursday afternoon police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele confirmed no arrests had been made.
“We are still following up on all leads and the matter remains under investigation,” Makhubele said.
The man was shot several times at around 13:00 last Thursday afternoon.
He had been waiting in his vehicle at the traffic lights on the corner of Cradock Avenue and Cantonments Road when two armed men opened fire at his vehicle.
“He died instantly.”
Makhubele confirmed the victim was a “taxi boss”.

“The motive behind the shooting is unknown at this stage.”
Earlier this week, Makhubele said police were investigating all possibilities, including linking the latest murder to a string of recent shootings in Centurion.
Last week’s killing brings the total to four men who have lost their lives over the past few months in Centurion as a result of a suspected “taxi war”.
On 13 June, a 52-year-old man was murdered while leaving a meeting in Theron Street.
The man, who was a member of the Centurion taxi association, was shot several times by three unknown men and declared dead at the scene.
On 15 May, a man was shot and killed outside the offices of the Centurion taxi association in Kruger Avenue.
The police said the man was leaving the association’s office when two unknown men shot and killed him.
Earlier in May, a 44-year-old man was shot and killed in his vehicle on the corner of Jean Avenue and Rabie Street.
