Locals complain about ‘prostitution shelter’
“I spoke to the woman who was there at the time. She told me only conducted her business throughout the day and at night she goes home.”
Locals at Schutte Street in Pretoria West complain they are fed up with prostitutes plying their trade at an open field in the area.
This after residents found “yet another” makeshift shelter used by an alleged sex worker at the veld.
“It was very well hidden and you could easily miss it,” local crime activist Eric Cordier told Rekord.
The “shelter” consists of large plastic bags and assorted other bags big enough to fit only two people.

“I spoke to the woman who was there at the time. She told me only conducted her business throughout the day and at night she goes home.”
The situation in general with vagrants and illegal dumping at the street has been deteriorating for a while now, according to residents.
“We are at our wit’s end,” said local resident Yolanda Lötter of Schutte Street.
“The problem is simply getting worse by the day. We cannot take it anymore.”
The Tshwane metro did not comment at the time of going to print.
“We are not aware of any specific cases involving prostitution in the street,” police spokesperson Sibongile Vuma told Rekord.
“However, we do not rule out the possibility as the crime is a problem in the area.”
