Cable theft leaves Centurion in the dark
“We are making progress. We have had decisive interventions as well as security measures which we cannot disclose at this stage. But we still plead for patience with residents as we fight this scourge.”
Cable theft resulted in power outages in Doringkloof, Irene and Centurion golf estate last night around 20:00.
Tshwane MMC for utility services Abel Tau told Rekord the metro was aware of the cable theft and a team had been dispatched.
Tau said cable theft was still a headache for the metro and pleaded with residents to remain vigilant of suspicious behaviour near electrical infrastructure.
“Teams are on standby to deal with any electrical issues. We remain steadfast in our service delivery and fight against cable theft that seeks to disrupt residences and businesses.
“We are making progress. We have had decisive interventions, security measures which I cannot disclose at this stage. But we still plead for patience with residents as we fight this scourge,” said Tau.
