Suspected cable thief nabbed in Centurion
The man was immediately arrested and detained at the Erasmia police station.
An Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, man is set to appear in court for possession of suspected stolen property.
“The man was arrested on Thursday shortly after 13:00 in Laezonia, Centurion,” police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said.
Erasmia detectives were apparently conducting a routine patrol when they became suspicious of the 31-year-old carrying a white bag in Koedoe Street.
“Upon searching him, they discovered three rolls of cables including tools believed to be used to cut cables,” he said.
The man was then immediately arrested and detained at the Erasmia police station.
“He failed to provide the police with a satisfactory explanation and the cables were seized for further police investigation,” Moloto explained.
