NEWSFLASH: Manhunt launched for police custody escapee

‘The details of the escape are unknown at this stage and investigations are presently underway to get to the root of the matter.’

A manhunt is on for a 34-year-old man who escaped from police custody while being transported to prison on Tuesday.

“A case of escaping from police custody has been opened against Clement Mahlangu who appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court,” police spokesperson Captain Matthews Nkoadi said.

Mahlangu had apparently appeared in the court on a charge of rape.

“He escaped while being transported to Kgosi Mampuru correctional centre,” Nkoadi said.
