Hammanskraal residents face water cuts due to maintenance work

Water interruptions for affected areas are expected to last 12 hours.

Tshwane metro is due to start a three-day maintenance of water reservoirs in Hammanskraal today.

Water interruptions for affected areas were expected to last 12 hours from 08:00 until 20:00.

The metro urged residents of the affected areas to store enough water for household use. However, the city said roaming tankers would be provided.

Tshwane’s utility services department said maintenance work would be carried out at the Renstown, Babelegi and Hammanskraal West reservoirs from 26 to 28 August 2019.

Utility services MMC Abel Tau said: “The city remains committed to providing quality services to all, including the communities of Hammanskraal.”

The following areas were expected to be affected by the maintenance work:

26 August – Renstown reservoir
Ramotse
Kekana Gardens
Mandela Village Ext 2 and 3
Portion 9

27 August – Babelegi reservoir (two: new and old)
Babelegi Industrial
Ramotse
Carousel View
28 August 2019 – Hammanskraal West reservoir
Hammanskraal West Ext 0, 1 and 2
