Police recover weapons, stolen vehicles

Suspects were arrested in many parts of the city

Dangerous weapons, live ammunition and stolen motor vehicles were among items recovered by police in their operations at the weekend.

Police arrested four suspects in Hammanskraal for the illegal possession of two dangerous weapons and 50 live rounds of ammunition.

Tshwane flying squad spokesperson Constable Bontle Rahatji said five more people were arrested in the west of Pretoria for alleged drug possession valued at an estimated R4 600.

“Two other suspects were arrested in White City, east of Pretoria, for possession of a hijacked Toyota Quantum,” Rahatji said.

The Quantum was apparently reported stolen in Mamelodi East.

Two people were also arrested in the city centre.

“All 13 suspects aged between 22 and 41 will be appearing in court soon for possession of drugs, hijacked motor vehicles and dangerous weapons and ammunition,” Rahatji said.
