Water and power interruptions in the east

Residents in the east are complaining about a sudden water interruption and power cuts.

Power cuts and water interruptions are plaguing residents on Wednesday in the east of Pretoria.

DA ward councillor Pieter van Heerden has confirmed that parts of Lydiana, La Montagne, Murrayfield, Meyerspark and surrounds are affected by the power outage that originated in the Willows substation.

“We are aware of the problem and system operators are on their way to fix the problem. They were held up with another issue earlier today,” Van Heerden said.

In regards to the water interruption, Van Heerden confirms that a burst pipe in Lydiana is at fault.

“A burst pipe in Ratel Avenue, Lydiana is causing a water issue in the same area. I have escalated the matter and city workers will be attending to the problem soon.”

Residents in the area are urged to use water sparingly and to switch off all electrical appliances during the power outage to prevent surge complications when the power comes back on.

Customers should report outages to customer care centres on 012-358-8999 OR SMS the word “power” to 44676.
