UPDATE: Moot resident mourned
Venessa van Rooyen Olivier was the passenger who died in a motorcycle accident on the corner of Steve Biko Road and Adcock Street on Saturday.
The community of Pretoria is mourning following the death of a Moot resident who died in an accident this weekend.
Venessa van Rooyen Olivier and her husband, Wikus were riding a motorcycle when they got involved in an accident on the corner of Steve Biko Road and Adcock Street on Saturday.

Venessa was declared dead on the scene and Wikus taken to Eugene Marais hospital in a stable condition.

“It is with great sadness that we have to let everyone know of the death of Venessa, who died in a serious accident,” said her brother-in-law, Jaco Olivier in a broadcast message.
Messages of condolences have streamed in from people who knew the family, and on social media.
“I was very sad to hear of the passing of Venessa. We knew each other well,” said local ward councillor, Elma Nel.

“My deepest sympathy to the family.”
The Pretoria Moot CPF also expressed their condolences.
“Good luck to Wikus, children, family, their motorcycle club Ol Timers, and friends,” said chairperson, Elsabe van Staden.

“You are in our prayers. Her death came as a big shock to all of us.”
The CPF also assisted at the scene and closed the road after the accident.
“Venessa, we miss you already. Rest in peace,” Jaco said.
